The Best Products From The 21 French Brands at Sephora

It’s the most wonderful time of year, at least for people looking to clear out some cash for beauty products: Sephora sale time, which means discounts of:

So many products, so little time — so here’s a tight little edit: the best product from each of the 21 French brands currently on Sephora online. All the prices below are the regular price, since the discount will depend on your benefit level.

A couple disclaimers: I’ve included a few brands here that aren’t personal faves (Hermès makes beautiful scarves etc etc) in the name of fulfilling the mission at hand; this is noted where applicable. Also, big corporate brands like Chanel, Dior, YSL, etc figure prominently here — surely Violette has more to say about contemporary French life than they do? In a way. To be debated. But Violette does offer the best product of this round-up: Bisou Balm, on t’aime so much.

1. Caudalie Self-Tan Hydrating Face Drops

Caudalie makes a bunch of good-to-great, high-performance products — including this cleanser — but this is the best: self-tanning “sun drops” that do the job without feeling overly chemical. It’s just enough to make a difference.

2. Chanel: Chance Eau Splendide

Sephora only sells Chanel’s fragrances, not its excellent skincare (or for that matter the iconic makeup). Chanel No. 5 feels musty at the moment — it shall rise again, but in the meantime, it’s all about Chance Eau Splendide: raspberry, with white cedar and rose geranium underpinnings.

This won’t work for everyone with troubled hair, but if you (like me) have fragile, dry hair, it can be a godsend. Try the mini size before committing — it’s not for everybody.
