Sezane Lou Bag Review (2026): Size, Fit, and Worth It?

Yes! It's versatile, casual, and that cost-per-wear is killer.

My Sezane Lou bag review in under ten words: A terrific bag and unique in the Sézane range. Affiliate links below

2025 brought number of new Sézane bags — and of them, the Lou bag was my top choice.

I divide their bags into two categories: leaning vintage and leaning office. All of my favorites — including the Milo Mini and the Claude — are in the vintage category. I don’t love the office-y bags, like the Gabin, which are well made but not my style.

The Lou is an outlier: squashy and slim at the same time — and in the taupe suede, the most casual of the entire collection. This is a fun, easy-to-wear bag. That relaxed nature is reflected in the price ($240), which is substantially less expensive than the rest of Sézane’s line. The cost-per-wear on the Lou is engineered to be in the pennies. A good thing!

Sézane Lou Bag: An Overview

Sézane’s Lou bag currently comes in four colors: suede black and taupe, and a soft leather in burgundy and red. My choice is taupe, followed by black (then burgundy — I don’t love the red). Unless, say, the Gabin, the form seems to really suit suede.

This is an exceptionally versatile bag: Take it to the grocery store? Sure. Class? You bet. The office? No problem.

Now: This is definitely a shoulder bag, worn over said body part on a slim strap. But I thought of it as a clutch, and I wore it sort of held between my chest and my upper arm in a way I wouldn’t normally do. It’s informal. It’s a friend in a bag! It’s a bag made for going to the movies on Saturday night, but you still want to look super pulled together.

The Lou is made in Portugal. Sézane’s language around where its bags are made has gotten a little fuzzier over the past years. Here’s how they put it: “Most of our pieces are made in Europe, with the remainder produced in countries chosen for their expertise, their strong social and environmental practices, and the origin of their materials. Our manufacturing workshops are audited by independent experts, in compliance with the standards we have selected (ERSA, BSCI, SMETA, SA 8000, ICS, or WCA).”

Sezane Lou Bag Review: Style & Design

The Lou (at least in suede — I can’t swear to the leather) slouchy, collapsible, and easy. To be specific: for the suede version, the main fabric is 100% split cowhide leather, as is the handle, inside pocket, and the lining.

The photos make it look more rigid than it is: Like I said above, it’s squishy. It roughly holds its shape, but don’t expect it to keep that neat quadrilateral shape. It’s roly-poly, a bit.

It feels very ’70s to me, without feeling excessively vintage, like the Claude and Milo (and the Victor) can. Maybe it’s the suede?

Sezane Lou Bag Review: Functionality & Fit

Here’s where we talk about the strap: It sucks.

It’s actually a good thing you can’t fit much inside beyond a phone and your keys, because that means you can’t overload it and really strain that strap. Officially, it’s adjustable, but it felt short on me, and I’m only 5′ 4″. I found it too narrow to be totally comfortable, but this is a nitpick.

Some stats: The Lou comes in a single size, 7.1 x 7.9 x 4.5 inches. Think of the size of a large(ish) paperback book. It’s lighter than even the Milo Mini, which is 540 grams; the Lou is only 315. You won’t fit more in it than a very slim book, a phone, and some sunglasses.

How It Compares to Other Sézane Bags

I really think this is a unique bag relative to the rest of the Sézane line. The Claude, the Classic Milo, and the Victor all feel of a piece to me: style-y vintage. The Gabin and Farrow feel very young professional to me. But the Lou is really doing its own thing: It’s fun and easy. You just can’t be in a position where you want to max out what you’re carrying, because some of its ease comes from its compact size, and it just won’t fit, like, a salad container. Not that you’re going to put a $240 salad container in your bag, but you know what I mean.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Slouchy! Fun! Easy!
  • Feels unique relative to other Sézane bags
  • Love all the colors (except one)

Cons:

  • Slim strap that could have been uncomfortable with more weight
  • Looks like it can fit more than it can?
  • That red…non merci

Wrapping Up My Sezane Lou Bag Review

Sézane’s Lou bag is a cool, easy-wearing, and exceptionally flexible bag. Dress it up, dress it down — it’ll go wherever you need it to.

Lou Bag FAQ

Is the Sézane Lou bag worth it? Yes. It’s the least expensive bag in the line, and also the most versatile. I can’t imagine any of the others would have a lower cost per wear.

Does the Sézane Lou bag fit a phone?
Yes — not a ton more, but yes.

Is the Sézane Lou bag cheaper in Paris?
Yes! You’ll still save around 15–20% by buying in Paris, depending on the exchange rate.

How does the Lou compare to other Sézane bags?
It’s doing its own think: It’s more casual than the Farrow or Gabin, less structured than the Claude, Milo, or Victor.
