The Diptyque summer collection has just launched, and it’s super good. Here, the most notable products, reviewed:
I love both of these brands — if you’re not familiar, Susanne Kaufmann is an Austrian skincare brand founder specializing in alpine herbs and botanicals. I was introduced to her products by a Paris makeup artist who said “it’s the kind of thing where she does spells over her herbs every morning,” and while I cannot verify that, I certainly do not want to deny it, either. This lip oil “includes meadowfoam seed, jojoba and sunflower oils to soothe and soften” with “a spirited citrus-mint scent.” Honestly if this were any other skincare product it’d be at the top of my list, but I’m personally not paying $40 for 5ml, even if I absolutely am obsessing over the packaging illustration.

Citronnelle (lemongrass) is one of my favorite Diptyque candles, a summertime limited edition that usually appears with custom illustrations. (This year’s comes courtesy of Diptyque regular Marie-Victoire de Bascher, who also created a limited-edition set of constellation-themed dinnerware for the brand a few years ago. Last year’s Citronnelle design was by Alexandre Benjamin Navet.) Love this, love the design so much. Also available as a “very large” candle (51 ounces versus the classic, which is just 6) — obsessed with this as the most glamorous possible summer deck candle (noting its mosquito-deterring properties as well).

There are two products with a lemongrass and geranium fragrance: a hand and body gel cleanser, and a summer body spray (seen here) with essential oils. I lean toward the former, just because in the past I’ve felt like the body sprays didn’t last as long as I would like them to.

I think $315 is an absurd price for a collection of miniatures, but if one item was to magically appear in my mailbox, this would be what I want: tiny editions of everything in the collection, including everything above plus small versions of two mini candles (Figuier and Cyprès), a small candle (Citronnelle), just over an ounce of Ilio hair mist, the body mist and cleanser above, lip oil, and Philosykos solid perfume and body lotion. An incredible collection of samples at an unfortunately robust price. But that packaging!!
