Alexa Chung’s book It is a masterpiece of the genre — the genre being books that exist to make you want to have fun and there are not nearly as many of them as there should be.)
Her new collection for Reformation is nearly as good. Maybe the hit rate isn’t totally there — Alexa Chung X Reformation officially has 30 pieces, not all of them bangers — but the five here are so totally killer. I want all of them (last one best one).
Here, you’ll find nearly a half-dozen pieces suitable for even the schmanciest of autumn parties, in rich, seasonally appropriate fabrics.
The ultimate fall party dress. The Radziwill, $398. Note this is at press time waitlisted — but the petite version is not.
Properly termed a “shacket,” I believe. Fully lined, with non-stretch velvet. I like the chinoiserie-style one even more but the photos weren’t great. Pepo jacket, $348
I saw a woman on a bicycle in Paris wearing an almost exact duplicate of this dress and the head of every single person on my sidewalk turned to follow her. Unlined cocktail dress from deadstock/polyester and rayon, $248
This ensemble is doing nothing but asking if you go to the gym, very loudly, and god bless but here’s hoping you do if you love this body-con set as much as I do. Reformation X Alexa Chung Carrie set, $298
Ohhh look we saved the best for last: the Ghost dress. Obsessed, even if the “detachable slip” feels like a pretty integral part of the dress. Love a square neck, a fitted bodice, and the overall sleekness. Available in gray and black. Ghost dress, $298
