Paris hotels with an Eiffel Tower view actually aren’t all that hard to come by: Paris is a low city, profile wise, and the Eiffel Tower is exceptionally tall — it’s more akin to a mountaintop, widely viewable from across the city (like Mount Fuji), than a monument hidden behind other, taller skyscrapers (like the Chrysler Building).
Many hotels of a certain height, and with favorable geography (say, a bit of elevation and a vantage toward the tower) will offer either rooms or common areas with a view of the Eiffel Tower. With enough height, Paris hotels with an Eiffel Tower view are, in fact, easy enough to come by — for example, the Eiffel Tower is visible from many outlooks on the southern-facing butte of Montmartre (I could almost see it from my old apartment, but not quite — it was behind another building. Thank goodness, or RIP my rent.)
The Paris hotels with an Eiffel Tower view below fall into three roughly drawn categories: super-luxe hotels (Le Bristol, the Plaza Athénée, etc.) with views from the 8th, two- and three-star hotels bordering (or just about bordering) the Champs-de-Mars, and hotels farther afield with lucky windows/balconies. (On this list of Paris hotels with an Eiffel Tower view, the farthest from the monument itself is three miles away, in Montmartre).
Hotel rates change quickly, so the below costs are extremely unreliable and should be used more as a relative than an absolute measure.
A few additional tips:
- Miscommunications abound under the best of travel circumstances — if it’s important to you to have an Eiffel Tower view, I would absolutely follow up on your booking with an email to the hotel staff (not to an intermediary like Booking) to verify that *your* room has an Eiffel Tower view — the last thing you want is to show up in Paris and face disappointment.
- If you call the hotel rather than email, use an app to record the call, and have that audio file ready on check in.
- Even putting aside ineptitude, misunderstandings happen, and it might difficult to discern that one “Prestige Room With Balcony” may be very different from a “Prestige Room With Balcony and View.” If you think you’ve found a deal, be doubly skeptical — Eiffel Tower view rooms will be more expensive than bigger, fancier rooms with no view.
- Finally: Book as early as you can. One hotelier below recommends a minimum of three months. This will be more flexible in the off season, but why take the risk?
I was actually surprised how many of these hotels were under $300 per night — not a bargain by any means, but not out of reach for many travelers OK with a splurge if it means getting a view. If you’re looking for ROI, consider the side-view rooms at La Comtesse. And for the record, I’m not sure the wider Eiffel Tower experience is any worse when viewed from just about beneath it (ideally on a picnic blanket, in July) than from a pricey hotel room, sequestered from the city behind your door.
