It’s Impossible To Take a Bad Picture of The Retreat

a curving landscape topped with moss from the retreat in iceland

The Retreat, the new, super-high-end hotel attached to the Blue Lagoon complex in Iceland, is like a giant Architectural Digest spread, except you can sleep inside of it. Can you take a bad picture inside of it?

Maybe, if you tried exceptionally hard. It was much easier, in fact, to take amazing pictures of the hotel, and the surrounding lava fields.

Iceland is spectacularly photogenic, and The Retreat is even more so. The rooms don’t have TVs, so expect lots of thoughtful staring out at various floor-to-ceiling windows when you’re not actually swimming in the lagoon (protect your hair! that water will destroy it!), sitting in the sauna, swinging in the swings, or otherwise engaging in mindful, and extremely spendy, self-care.
