8 Summer 2026 Trends All Over Paris
After spending last summer in Marseille, it’s a shock to return to Paris and remember how on-trend summer style is here — how connected it is to capital-F fashion. There’s something kind of magical seeing how all these runway trends have been remixed by the people walking down the street, or out to run errands in a $500 leather skirt and $18 Havaianas.
Here’s what I’m seeing, trend-wise — a collection notable for how many of these feel inspired by a pretty U.S. version of the ’90s (see Hole-style tiny slip dresses and sunglasses I personally believed were inspired by a particular (and fictional) cop.

1. Tiny Slip Dresses
Oh, the ’90s! They’ve returned and brought the slip dress with them. I saw my first Parisian slip dress on my way across the river, as a woman in a coffee-colored slip dress zoomed by on a bike. It did not look like outdoor clothes. It looked like indoor clothes. But I’ll tell you what: Every single person standing alongside me on the rue de Rivoli sidewalk turned their heads as she flew past.
2. Jorts
What a time to be alive. When I first got to Paris, I remember texting my best friend to tell her I was the only person I’d seen all day (outside of other Americans) wearing jean shorts. Now, knee-length jorts rule the streets of Paris, the wider the leg, the lower the rise, the better. FTR it’s still the tourists in the short-shorts, though not only.
3. Summer Tanks (But No Bra)
A few rules for the tank tops: Mostly I’m seeing spaghetti straps (like the AE one to the left), but a few wider ones as well (like those below). Three non-negotiables: cotton (not something silky), form-fitting, and NO BRA. I swear to God a memo went out and there’s now a rule against bras, I don’t know what to say about this except IDK respect? I will be the puritanical American here wearing one, but I can report with confidence that public sentiment is against me.
Side note: I found this cami from Me + Em a day after I wrote this post, but this is precisely the vibe.
4. Gingham
This fabric — which I’ve always thought of as a Midwestern staple — was actually born in France (or Malaysia, depending on who’s talking). It’s showing up in everything, but especially midi/maxi dresses, like the Veronica Beard below. 5. Leather Skirts
The most fetching outfit I’ve seen my whole time here was worn by an athletic-looking woman with bright gray hair: a black tank top and an A-line leather skirt.
6. Button-Up Sleeveless Vests
Waistcoats? Gilets? Button-up halter tops? Whatever we’re calling them, they are everywhere. Must have: form-fitting shape and buttons; everything else is negotiable.
7. Wedge Espadrilles
I live around the corner from a major wedding venue, which I love so much — not least because I am constantly in a position to do a forensic examination of what Parisians are wearing to weddings. This summer: wedge espadrilles and no other shoes. Well: wedge espadrilles and kitten heel mules, but mostly espadrilles.
8. Vic Mackey ’90s-Style Sunglasses
Half the pieces on this page could have come from a 1997 high school yearbook, but these sunglasses are straight from The Shield. Gigi Hadid, obviously, and all the rest of the beau monde, but every time I see someone wearing these (and that is all the time, here) I think of Vic Mackey — IYKYK, and if you don’t, please get a trial to Hulu and watch as many episodes of this classic very early 2000s cop show as possible before it runs out, it’s the best.
