Ouai St. Barts: Ranking All The Products

ouai st barts review - 5 bottles from the product line

Ouai St Barts review: Pricy but so sweet (A-)

I love the limited-edition Ouai St. Barts line, even if it’s the equivalent of Axe body spray for women. Want to smell like a coconut? Or a pineapple? Or maybe like a pina colada Life Saver? Ouai St. Barts will get that job done. The problem is, for me, that I absolutely love the smell of coconut, and pineapple, and pina colada Life Savers. This line was made for me. Maybe for you too!

The St. Barts scent — which Ouai officially describes as “dragon fruit, orange blossom, tuberose & musk” but definitely reads like coconut sunscreen — is available in five products: the hair oil, the body mist, body cream, scalp-and-body scrub, and the body cleanser. I have tried them all, and I am here to rank them, because your return on investment will vary widely.

#1: Ouai St. Barts Hair Oil

Is it any surprise within the context of a Ouai St Barts review that their best product in general is also their best product involving this fragrance? This is a lovely, light-to-medium body hair oil that smells gorgeous. I’ll note, unfortunately, that this really earns the top spot because the product is so good — strictly in terms of the fragrance, and this would come a few spots lower, because it actually smells a bit more pineapple-y to me, and less coconut-y, and the smell dissipates faster than, say, the body mist (which is saying something). Ouai St. Barts hair oil, $30

#2: Ouai St. Barts Body Mist

This is truly an Axe-like body spray: an extremely light perfumed mist. It’s lovely going on and if you hate it don’t worry because give it 20 minutes and you won’t smell it at all (it dissipates quickly). Spray early and often! Ouai St. Barts Body Mist, $28

#3: Ouai St. Barts Cleansing Scalp & Body Sugar Scrub

I prefer this as a body scrub to a scalp scrub personally — it’s a lovely experience, since as we talked about the fragrance is great, and the sugar scrub is a solid product if you’re looking for some exfoliation. It’s a bonus that it isn’t very stripping, with a little bit of oil in there to ward off dryness. It doesn’t promise, or offer, a lingering scent, but I wish it had more of one, especially for the price. Ouai St. Barts Cleansing Scalp & Body Sugar Scrub, $40

#4: Ouai St. Barts Moisturizing Body Crème

I also really like this — I just don’t like it any more than Sol de Janeiro’s similarly vibed body creams, and I think those are more moisturizing. But I do think that the scent lasts longer here than with just about any other product in the line. Ouai St. Barts Moisturizing Body Crème, $38

#5: Ouai St. Barts Gentle Body Wash

Similar to the sugar scrub, the scent makes for a lovely wash-centric experience — but at least with the hair oil you have an experience that lasts longer than the five minutes you’re directly applying it to your skin. The smell is the same as with the other products, but I can’t personally justify the price when so many much less expensive alternatives (i.e. any shower gel or bar soap) exist. I’m not saying I’ll never spend $28 on 10 fluid ounces of bath product, but I am saying that this one isn’t special enough to get there. Ouai St. Barts Gentle Body Wash, $28
